Animal Wildlife | Water Dragon | The water dragon is a large species of lizard native to the forests and jungles of Asia and Australia. Water Dragons are arboreal animals, meaning they spend most of their time in trees, often near a large amount of water. There are two different species of water dragon, which is the Australian water dragon and Asia water dragon . The Australian water dragon is the smaller of the two species of water dragon and is located on the east coast of Australia. Australian water dragons have strong legs and sharp claws that allow them to climb trees efficiently.
The water dragon of Asia is the largest and most colorful of the two species of water dragon and is found in forests and jungles of India, China, Laos, Vietnam, Burma and Thailand. The water dragon of Asia also has a third eye (known as the pineal gland), which is believed to be able to detect differences in light. Although the water dragons are arboreal animals, which also spend time in or near water. Water dragons are good swimmers and able, and often jump into the water on the branches to escape the impending danger.
Like many other lizard species, water dragons are omnivorous animals eating a variety of plant and animal species.
